Berlinale 2011 - Cinematic diary in words and pictures (4)

Big glasses are in at the Berlinale. (Or to put it in the words of a journal such as "InStyle": "In is: big glasses, out is: hold festival jury members in Iran.)

And I do not just mean the 3-D glasses that also here more often in the cinema must be installed (and which can be quite sharp, so that his ears hurt easily). No, It is striking that wander around the festival site at Potsdamer Platz more and more people with huge grandpa glasses on his nose, which looks very nerdy. But nerds are now cool because we have taught many films in recent years that they are actually superheroes. The best example is the film "Handle - The Invisible running on the Berlin and in which a nerd becomes an invisible superhero. Simply because he wants to and there is enough trouble. The film nerds defined as people who think about the reality out and thus either lose touch with reality or make new worlds for other people as possible.

party under an impressive dome in the old post house. Through the large gates in the old days horses come with mail-coach.

At the Berlinale, running around a lot of nerds who want to be superheroes - that something will create quite special.
most cases, they are film school graduates who rush here with scripts in their luggage from appointment to appointment to leave their identity behind and Nerd successful Filmmakers to be. In the evening they sneak then decadent parties, let the business conversation marathon of the day behind and become heroes of the night, feel like stars when they are at the party who inhabit the real stars of the dance floor.

Sabine Bernardi, who studied with me at the International Film School Cologne, is the heroine of our university. She has managed to produce with much power and very little money her first feature film running in this year's Berlinale, and has triggered a veritable flood of visitors. Two days in a row "Romeos" - a very charming film is about a boy who once was a girl to be so tolerant and even in well-known Cologne from problems - several cinema halls filled. Well over 100 people had to remain even at the door, because once again was on the steps of the place.

Sabine is now therefore a superhero. That sounds a bit like Franz-Josef Wagner agrees, however. Because it has a strange world made available to many people. (And had it not even for their success need to have a great eye.)
